Nathaniel Bowditch 在 1815 年论文《On the Motion of a Pendulum Suspended from Two Points》中已数学推导出后来被称为 Lissajous 图形的曲线，比 Jules Antoine Lissajous 1857 年用振动音叉反射光束的独立研究早 42 年。
